The local church structure promotes religion over relationships (you come once per week then you are finished); the local church structure promotes buildings over people (you have to have a building to do a ministry); the local church structure promotes programs over faith and spiritual power (you have to be a scholar to be involved in the kingdom of God activities); the local church structure promotes passivity; the local church structure promotes one authoritarian leader or a small group that suppresses others from learning about and using their spiritual gifts; the local church structure promotes a social club rather than a kingdom division of labor. Jesus never promoted a religion, a building, programs over spiritual power, a leader who suppresses others use of spiritual gifts rather than equipping other leaders to actively shine, a social club where a person comes once a week and is done, or a business or marking strategy. These are all modern worldly structures that have infiltrated the church that actually prohibit real discipleship from taking place. When it comes to grace the modern evangelical church came out of Catholicism but never completely removed Catholicism from the modern church.
